Constellation is a motion-controlled performance system that transforms your gestures into sound and control. With its Satellites, every movement becomes an expressive tool you can use to shape music in real time. Let’s take a look at the motion-tracking controls available to you.
Roll #
Roll measures the rotation of your arm or wrist, like turning a doorknob. This is great for sweeping through filter frequencies, opening up effects, or adding modulation with a natural twist of your hand.
Up and Down #
Up and Down tracks vertical motion. Raise your hand to increase a parameter, or lower it to decrease it. This makes it perfect for controlling pitch, volume, or effect depth in a very intuitive way.
Left and Right #
Left and Right measures horizontal movement. Move your arm side to side to pan sounds across the stereo field, morph between effects, or even trigger crossfades.
Position #
Position tracks where the Satellite is located in space. You can map absolute placement—like moving higher, lower, left, or right—to specific parameters. For example, you might control pitch by lifting your hand, or open an effect as you step sideways. Position gives you a direct, spatial way to control sound, almost like sculpting music in the air.
Acceleration #
Acceleration detects how quickly you move. You can use it across all directions or isolate it to a single axis. Sharp gestures can be mapped to trigger sounds or effects, while smooth accelerations can subtly shape dynamics or modulation.
Rotation Speed #
Rotation Speed measures how fast you rotate around an axis. Like Acceleration, it can be used on all axes or just one. A slow turn might create a gentle filter sweep, while a fast spin could trigger dramatic changes.
Built-in Microphone #
Finally, each Satellite includes a built-in microphone that can be used as a control input. For example, it can react to breath, percussive hits, or even environmental sounds, adding another expressive layer to your performance.
With Roll, Up and Down, Left and Right, Position, Acceleration, Rotation Speed, and the built-in microphone, Constellation turns your movements and gestures into expressive musical control.
